Is your classroom itching for a different approach in learning consonant vowel consonant words (CVC)? Stop, look no further because these are the perfect CVC task cards that will open up a whole new meaning of having fun with phonological awareness. This non-basic approach will entice students to search for letters that makes up CVC words. The task cards are geared towards short vowel sounds. Students will acquire the knowledge in the production of CVC words which consists of initial, middle, and final sounds.
What is it? These are CVC task Cards that are quite different from others. They are strictly designed for phonological activity to enrich speech and word pronunciation. Each letter consists of phonemes that forms three-letter words; which is demonstrated in the video review above. Watch as I modal one of the most fundamental ways of learning CVC words.
Who is it for? It is designed for early readers. It provides commonly used CVC words that promotes understanding of producing sounds in formulating words.
How to set it up? Once downloaded, cut out each task cards. One can choose to laminate it to prevent them from waring and tearing.
How to use it? The video above shows me using counting bears manipulative to demonstrate individual sounds of each letter. As the kids do the same, they will grasp the skill of understanding that each letter creates sounds and together form a word. Each word found on a card is presented horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. And, of course; the pictures indicated on each card is a representation of the word found on the card. There are a variety of ways to use it. It can be used as an assessment tool to determine how many CVC words can the student acquire and it improves reading frequency. These task cards are best in literacy/reading center. Come up with your ways, and don’t hesitate to share them with me.
