Once the tallies are identified, kids will have fun arranging the dots anyway they choose. It can also be used to teach addition. If they place too many dots on the ladybug, a red circle is indicated around the drop zone as an indication that the correct number of dots is not placed in. This will also teach the basic skills of subtracting. Next to the tally display, students will get a chance to spell out the quantity. For instance, if they see one tally mark, they must spell out (o-n-e). On the top right are numbers displayed veristically. In this case, student will click and drag the correct number that matches with the tally representation to the last box next to the spelled out word. So with this activity, kids learn addition, subtraction, spelling, reading, vocabulary, and number recognition all at once.
